Case 01 · Short-form drama
Nightshift
A 48-episode vertical series about two night-shift nurses in Jacksonville, written, cast, shot, and finished by lavn for a U.S. drama-app partner.
The brief
Hold them past episode three.
The partner needed a U.S.-set medical drama that could compete with imported titles on completion rate, not just first-episode clicks. The constraint was an eighteen-day principal-photography window in Duval County and a locked per-episode budget.
What we did
- Writers’ room of four, two weeks, beat sheets before cameras.
- Cast locally through Jacksonville and Atlanta, with two series leads on SAG-AFTRA guest terms.
- Multi-cam coverage on a standing hospital-corridor set; night exteriors in Riverside and San Marco.
- Color, sound, captions, and 9:16 masters delivered in 72-hour episode batches.
- Hook testing on episodes 1, 4, and 12 against a hold-out creative cell.
Amelia Grant, Head of Content for the partner: “They treated a vertical series like a television show and a media plan like a balance sheet.”
